Wrapped up in the Holidaze
Anyone who knows me knows that December is my absolute favourite month of the year. As far as I'm concerned, the entire month of December denotes Christmas. Period. I absolutely, positively, thoroughly love Christmas... aah, Christmas 💕... so naturally, as from the stroke of midnight on the 1st of December of each year, I'd start to feel especially chipper. This year has been no different. I've said this before and I'll say it again - there's something distinctly magical about the holiday season that always puts me in high spirits. Always. It's a balmy feeling that gets amped for me during the holidays and it makes me marvel at the simplest of things more than at any other time of the year.
Case in point: Less than an hour ago, I was standing over the kitchen stove with a stir fry spatula in one hand and a wok in the other reheating last night's leftovers - fried vermicelli with shredded chicken and sliced omelette. As I sit at my desk typing away right now, the glorious taste of my humble chow is still lingering on my tongue, and all I can say is YUM! That's right, in caps with an exclamation mark, thank you very much! Normally, I wouldn't be this excited about leftovers (I mean, who would, right?), but it was so good and like I said, even the simplest of things. Blame it on my festive mood, if you will. 😉
Anyway, moving on...
I have a mini Christmas tree with dainty little ornaments that I've been displaying around the house for at least three Christmases now. Last Christmas, it sat on top of the dining room dresser, and the year before that, the foyer. Today, I took it upstairs to my bedroom. It looks really pretty.
Right now, I've got Michael Bublé's Christmas album playing in the background. Loving that so much. And tomorrow, I'm taking the folks out to Bangsar Shopping Centre, not to get into shopping overdrive or anything like that, but to chill and mainly take in the Christmas bling that they've put up at the mall. Should be gorgeous. Can't wait to see it. In the run-up to Christmas, I'm also looking forward to decking out our home a little bit more, having coffee "reunions" with friends and smiley-facing the few Christmas cards that I'm going to be sending out (yes, I still do real cards!). Plus, there are several new, kind of cheesy-looking Christmas movies on Netflix that I'm going to be cringe-watching (cut me some slack, at least I'm admitting it! 😄). And of course, the folks and I can't wait for the big day itself when we get together with loved ones. It'll be great. 🙂
In the midst of all the merriment, though, we're going to keep at heart the true meaning of Christmas, which I think is so important, and what better way to do that than to turn to this Bible verse:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16 (NKJV)
Anyway, I do have to run now, so that's a wrap for this post. Cheers and I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday buzz just as much as I am! 🎅🏻🎄🎁
