'Twas the Night Before Christmas at Best Western i-City Shah Alam

Oh my gosh, it's December, which means that the most wonderful time of the year is here! Yaaaaaayyy...!!! Counting down to Christmas! 🎅❄️

I don't know about you, but there's something distinctly special about the Christmas season that always puts me in high spirits. Always. I love the magical feeling that's swirling everywhere you go. It's so uplifting. From elaborate displays at the malls, classic Christmas tunes filling the airwaves to that famous USJ11 corner house all decked out for the season, it's impossible to be Grinchy at this time of the year.

I think that for many of us, one of the most meaningful things about Christmas is the gift of family and friends. It's so nice to come together, isn't it? Especially over a sumptuous Christmas meal at a good hotel. Gotta love that. But do you sometimes feel that hotels in general are increasingly commercialising and overpricing their Christmas fare? Well, if you'll indulge me for a bit, perhaps I may suggest the following wallet-merry hotel:

For Christmas Eve this year, why not consider Best Western i-City Shah Alam for a fancy nosh-up? You may have noticed from reading my blog that I've dined at their restaurant, The View Cafe, twice before and I liked it. It's a nice and cosy place. It's relaxed enough to feel "at home" with cuisine that's lush enough to leave you inspired. This Christmas Eve, The View Cafe will be serving a resplendent Christmas Eve Buffett Dinner from 6.30 pm to 10.00 pm. That's right, folks - a buffet dinner - which means that you can feast to your heart's content. And at RM55.00 nett per adult (35% discount for children and seniors), it won't break the bank. In fact, it's a steal. Plus, it might be wise to go on an empty stomach!

Here are just some of the culinary delights you can expect to feast on:

- Beef Stew with Potato and Carrot

- Mongolian Lamb

- Grilled Chicken Au Jus

- Sweet and Sour Fish

- Oven-baked Herb Potato with Olive Oil

- Salmon in Puff Pastry

- Bread and Butter Pudding

- Yule Log Cake

- Fruit Cake

- Chocolate Fountain

and, of course, the pièce de résistance - Butter Herb Roasted Turkey - with sides of roasted potato, baked veggies and Cranberry and Giblet sauce.

... and so much more!

I had the privilege of attending the hotel's annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony earlier this evening. Lit by Mr Anthony Kong, the hotel's General Manager, the tree illuminated the night as it stood grand and tall at the al fresco terrace. And true to the spirit of goodwill of the season, the hotel hosted the orphans and abandoned children of Rumah KIDS as part of their charity initiative. After the Christmas tree was lit, the children sang Christmas carols and danced around the glittering tree.

And then in a big-hearted gesture, the hotel gave all of us a really special treat - they served us the full Christmas Eve Buffet Dinner. Yep, the entire hearty spread. Not just cocktails or canapés or a few dishes to sample, but the whole enchilada. For real. I mean, they fed us! Pictured below is my chow. I had the turkey, beef stew with potato and carrot, oven-baked herb potato with olive oil and some really tasty desserts. My verdict: sublime. Seriously, I'm not trying to stroke their egos or anything, but the food really was that delish. And it was clear that everyone else, including the kids from the home, loved it, too.

My oh-so-delicious plate!

And if I know those fun-loving folks at Best Western i-City Shah Alam, besides the great food, they'll also have a few interactive games with prizes to be won up their sleeves. So be ready to have a holly jolly time to complement your Christmas Eve buffet dinner.

A defining feature of The View Cafe which I really like is its location at Level 5 of the hotel. With a breezy al fresco terrace overlooking the iconic i-City Theme Park, the view is pretty spectacular. Especially at night when everything is lit up. Really scenic and colourful. Imagine the beautiful photos you could take against that glittering backdrop. Wouldn't that add some sparkle to your Christmas Eve?

I couldn't resist a selfie!
