Sukin's Super Greens Facial Recovery Serum (Choose Cruelty Free-Certified)

Right around New Year's, I received this as a gift: Super Greens Facial Recovery Serum by Australian natural skincare brand, Sukin.

But before I go into detail about it, let me quickly just say that if you have oily, shiny skin that goes to shit whenever anything remotely thick, creamy or heavy-duty touches it, welcome to my world. Historically, I've had very little success with skincare products like serums and moisturisers - basically anything that goes on after cleansing and toning the face - even when it says "non-comedogenic" or "oil-free" on the label.

So when Sukin's Super Greens Facial Recovery Serum fell into my lap, I was straight away - yep, you guessed it - sceptical. But I have to admit, I got curious after doing a bit of digging online and finding generally positive reviews about the product and the brand, so I decided to put the serum to the test (with low expectations, mind you). And these are my thoughts after using it once a day for the last six months:

Overall, I like it. No, really. I like it. Which is groovy given my shoddy experience with serums and moisturisers. Hilarious. Even I'm surprised.

What I love about it, first and foremost, is its ultralight, almost-watery consistency. It absorbs like a dream. It doesn't feel cloggy or sticky or leave me looking like a hot mess. Hallelujah! Finally! A product that's perfect for my oily skin (even though the label suggests otherwise... me thinks they ought to fix that!) Plus, in this Malaysian heat, that thin, liquidy texture is right on the money.

The other thing I love about this serum is its blend of antioxidant-rich natural ingredients. It's loaded with extracts of kale, spirulina, parsley, chlorella, acai and goji berries. I know, right? So much goodness in one bottle.

Also, it's pretty concentrated, so a little goes a long way. Just a single pump of serum is all I need each morning and that's it, I'm done (drier skin types may need more).

Besides being oily, my skin is also ageing, and it can be sensitive at times, too. So while I'd love to slap on some of the most popular heavy-hitting anti-ageing ingredients available out there, my skin can't always take it. Sometimes it can, sometimes it can't. Or won't. It's like it has a mind of its own. Cranky derm! I've tried various products and brands in the past, but this is the first time I can truly say I like a product. This Super Greens serum is as gentle as you like. Love it.

All in all, a fab product if subtle nourishment and light hydration are what you're looking for.

Super Greens Facial Recovery Serum by Sukin comes in a 30ml airless pump amber glass bottle and retails for RM76.90* (before any sales discount) at Guardian, AEON Wellness and online† (try Lazada, Shopee or Sukin's website‡).

Credential-wise, Sukin is pretty impressive on the whole:

So will I be getting a new bottle of Super Greens Facial Recovery Serum once my current supply runs out? You betcha! Great product, solid brand and the certifications are down to the ground the icing on the cake. 'Nuff said.
