2019 Ribbon Wrapped

It's the night of December 30th and I'm sitting in my favourite spot on the living room floor, chocolate chip cookies at my side, typing this post. Although the world is getting ready to ring in a brand new year and decade, I can still feel Christmas in the air and my heart is singing Christmas carols.

It's the most wonderful time of the year... la la la la la la la... la la la la la la... la la la la laaaaaaaaa...

Yeah, I know... 😄

But what can I say? Christmas is a gigantic deal for me. It gives me warm fuzzies even before December 25th, and will continue well after, like I'm not even kidding. I've been this way for as long as I can remember and I can't help it. I'm just sentimental, I guess.

Speaking of sentimental, I love sending and receiving Christmas cards, and if you know me, you know I'm talking real cards. I know I've said this before on the blog, but real cards vs virtual cards... I mean, come on, right? Right! This year, the Orchards sent me this one. It arrived about a week before Christmas and I got such a buzz taking it out of the envelope and holding it in my hand!

Anyway, I know this sounds like a totally worn-out cliché, but I have to ask: where did the last twelve months go?! No, really. It's like I blinked and they took off. Wait! Come back! 😅

Jokes aside though, 2019 has been a fairly up-and-down year for me - a bit of a blur overall because it flew by so fast, but here's a quick glimpse of some of the good and the bad:

The good: My Aussie brother visiting in August was definitely crazy awesome and so is the fact that Liverpool are killing it this season, like literally! YES!!! GO, REDS!!! New collabs on the blog were super fun and Christmas was a high point for sure. And, of course, my folks... I mean, gosh... they're always there for me. Always. And I'm more grateful than I could ever express.

The bad: Without going into any dreary details, this year has been rotten for me career-wise, so fingers crossed things will improve next year.

I'm not really one to make New Year's resolutions. Are you? I do, however, feel like I want to start exercising more next year, although given my dismal track record, that idea might run out of steam even before I've jogged two steps. But we'll see. Also, as someone who loves animals dearly, the idea of supporting more cruelty-free brands and companies other than just The Body Shop and Marks & Spencer is something that's been on my mind a lot lately, so I'm going to be delving into that and I may even blog about it as I go. And although not exactly a resolution per se, improving my job situation is definitely a top priority, so fingers crossed and saying a prayer for that.

And on that hopeful note, it's time for me to polish off these cookies (they're so yummy) and wrap up the blog for 2019 (I've got my imaginary ribbon ready! 🎀). If you're reading this, thanks for stopping by. I hope you had an amazing year and you've got some exciting plans for the new one. Happy New Year and MAY 2020 ROCK!!! 🥳🍾🥂🎉🎆
