Why I Love to Travel Light
Whenever I travel with a group of people, I’m usually the one who stands out for having just one bag, or the smallest bag among the lot.
I guess it has to do with the fact that I’m a no-fuss, no-frills kind of girl. Anyone who knows me knows that’s just the way I am. In my daily life, I don’t think too much about clothes, shoes, make-up... that sort of thing. Don’t get me wrong. That’s not to say I don’t buy those things at all or don’t make an effort to look good. I do. But I am simple by nature, and it does influence the amount of stuff I take with me when I travel... which isn’t much.
Hence, I travel light. And a lightweight carry-on bag is my preferred travel luggage.
No check-in bag = No additional expense and no chance of delayed or lost luggage.
I realise that not everyone is like me, but I do find that travelling light is easier and gives me more flexibility. It allows me to move around faster when I need to, like at airports and other transit points, saving time which is fantastic. After all, time is gold when you’re travelling.
Clothes wise, I like to have mine washed and re-worn while I travel. Just my opinion but I think it’s better for hygienic reasons to wash them. So I just pack a few nice pieces (mainly separates to mix and match) and leave any unnecessary items at home. Launderettes outside of hotels aren’t really that expensive, and I sometimes wash my clothes in my hotel bathroom in the evening. They're usually dry by morning, and if there are any wrinkles... well, that's what the hotel's iron is for, isn't it?
My air ticket, hotel reservation and other important travel documents - even books, music and games - are all on my phone, plus saved/available in the cloud. To think of all the bulk we used to cram into our bags back in the day. Thank goodness for technology.
By the way, like the idea of a motorised, rideable carry-on bag? Check out this baby from Modobag. So cool. I want one!
