Fish and Chips Worthy of a COR BLIMEY!


Wanna tuck in to honest-to-goodness British fish and chips that's fresh and cooked from scratch? Then head on over to Cor Blimey!

Founded in 2016 by British-Malaysian restaurateur, Adam Hanrahan, Cor Blimey! started with just a single outlet at SS15 Subang Jaya. Sporting the eye-catching Union Jack symbol across the interior and exterior, the restaurant's mission of serving fresh, cooked-to-order British-style fish and chips in Malaysia was set well in motion.

It wasn't long before word got around and people started taking notice. With the exception of a few quibbles here and there (you can't please everyone, can you?), the restaurant steadily amassed rave reviews. It soon became recognised as somewhat of a gastronomic gem at Subang Jaya. And after just two short years, expansion followed. Today, Cor Blimey! has branches at Damansara Uptown and Desa Sri Hartamas.


Signature British Fish & Chips - Dory fish with Onion Garlic batter and Minted Mushy Peas

I like popping in every now and then. Love the food. So delicious and comforting. My favourite item on the menu is the Signature British Fish & Chips, which comes with chunky chips (not skinny fries) and tartar sauce. The dish is customisable so you can tailor it as you desire. Just select your choice of:

  • fish (Dory, Cherry Snapper, Perch, Atlantic Cod* or Haddock*);

  • batter (Plain, Lemon & Herb, Chilli Lemon, Onion Garlic or Chip Shop Curry); and

  • side (Minted Mushy Peas, Chunky Coleslaw or Baked Beans).

My usual: Dory with Lemon & Herb and Baked Beans (RM22.90**).

Couples may opt for the Sharing Platter for Two (RM69.90), whereas a larger group, the Family Feast Platter (RM120.90).

The kitchen will prepare your dish after you've ordered, so allow about 15 to 30 minutes for service (longer when there's a crowd). But it's worth the wait as nothing beats fresh. The British-themed decor rounds off the experience, simulating the feeling of dining at a fish and chip shop in Britain.

Besides the staple fish dishes, the restaurant also serves other British classics like Bangers & Mash (RM25.90), Fisherman's Pie (RM13.90), Cheddar Cheese Melts (RM11.90), Apple & Berry Crumble (RM14.90) and Deep Fried Mars Bar on Snickers (RM13.90), bringing a pretty decent and comprehensive taste of Britain to Malaysia. Drinks wise, there's a good selection of English teas and lemonades, fizzy drinks, old school soda pops and brewed coffee.

As is traditional at every good fish and chip shop in Britain, you'll find a bottle of malt vinegar at each table at Cor Blimey!, so feel free to add a splash of tangy nuance to your dish if you like.

I would recommend Cor Blimey! to anyone who's looking to indulge in freshly-prepared fish and chips that's as authentically British as can be right here in Malaysia. I was reeled in at first bite. Maybe you would be, too.
